From time to time I get a request for an item that I've never made before, which is awesome. : P However, sometimes I can't find a pattern that I like, or in the size that I'm looking for. In either case, more often then not I end of making my own pattern. This lady bug pattern was so easy to create that I just had to share.
So, here ya go!
What you'll need -
H/8 hook (5.00mm)
Worsted Weight in Black and Red.
Daring Needle (or any yarn needle)
MC - Magic Circle
Ch - chain
Sc - Single Crochet
Dc - Double Crochet
With black yarn.
MC (if you don't know how to make a magic circle feel free to just ch 3 and work the 9 dc inside the 1st chain). Ch 2, 9 dc inside MC.
Round 1. Ch 2 (count as first dc here and throughout) 2dc in each stitch. Join on top of Ch 2.(20)
Round 2. Ch 2, *dc, 2dc in next stitch* Continue until end of round. Join on top of Ch 2. (30)
Round 3. Ch 2, *dc 2 , 2dc in next stitch* Continue until end of round. Join on top of Ch 2. (40)
Round 4. Ch 2, *dc 4, 2dc in next stitch* Continue until end of round. Join on top of Ch 2. (48)
Change to red yarn.
Round 5 - 9. Ch 2, dc until end of round. Join on top of Ch 2. Finish, weave in ends.
This is what you should have at this point of the pattern.
Spots: (Make 6)
With black yarn.
MC, sc 10 in mc, join. Finish weave in ends. Sew to front of hat, see photo for placement.
Antenna: (Make 2)
(Leave long tail) Ch 10, turn, sc in next ch from hook. sc in next 6 stitches. (leaving 2 stitches unworked.) Leave long tail. Finish. Use beginning tail as the top of the antenna, cut down to 1/2 an inch. Weave in ending tail to the bottom of antenna and use to sew on the the hat. See photo for placement.
I simply whip stitched down the center. Nothing fancy.
